KOCHI: Congress president Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to divide into two and the Congress aims to transform our country into a place where the rich and poor can live jointly. He kicked off the United Democratic Front’s election campaign in Kochi today.

“PM Modi comes to Kerala and says India is ahead of China. On which basis? He has destroyed the economic background of the country built by the people and the Congress. Modi gave a GST which was fundamentally flawed. What sort of GST is this that nobody understands it? And it is practically impossible to implement it. In 2019, we will restructure the Gabbar Singh Tax (GST)”, said Rahul Gandhi.

“Everyone stood together in a traumatic time. It was expected that your government will reach out to the people of the state and come to help, but instead this govt did not do anything. It didn’t give the people of Kerala the support and vision it needed. The CPIM and BJP divided the people. The welfare of Kerala was put on the backburner. Congress respects rights of women and respects the tradition of the system. But the Congress doesn’t agree with the violence brought by the CPIM and BJP. I want to ask the CPI(M), what have you done for the people, farmers, youths in Kerala? I want to ask the same thing that I ask Narendra Modi”, he added.
