KOLLAM: Kollam east police has arrested a young man for in connection with a financial fraud case. Sujith, resident of Sreevilasam in Mundakkal, Kollam had given an advertisement in the matrimonial and had given marriage vows to a woman, whom he later cheated and took Rs 6 lakh from her.
Sujith met the woman’s family and introduced himself as M.Tech Software Engineer. They conducted an engagement ceremony on January 23th as well. The woman gifted a gold bracelet of one and half pavan to him and later handed over Rs 6 lakh and a tablet. He had told her and her family that the money was for his mother’s medical treatment.
The woman’s family had completely trusted the man. He told them that he got appointed as an office attendant in Thrissur collectorate. He also sent them a copy of the appointment order through WhatsApp. However, woman’s relatives found out that the document was fake and asked him to give the money back. However, he did not oblige to their demands and the woman’s family lodged a complaint to Kollam east police. The investigation was led by Kollam east CI S Manjulal and Sujith was later arrested and remanded by the court.
