THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister Dr Thomas Isaac started presenting the Kerala Budget in the assembly. Presenting the budget, the minister said priority will be given in rebuilding Nava Kerala. Some of the highlights are -
Rs. 1,000 crore one-time Kuttanad package
Rs. 70 Crore has been allotted for value addition for coconut farmers
Environmental Sensitivity of the Western Ghats will be taken into consideration
Greater role for cooperative bodies in the scientific management of coffee plantations
A hub of industrial parks will be set up
Kochi refinery land to be taken in 2019-20
A string of townships will be set up in Kerala
A new scheme for land acquisition will come up soon
Rs 1.45 lakh crore for budget expense
Rs 3229 crore obtained in CMDRF
Plan to double income of farmers.
Excess price of 20-10% when procuring coffee seeds
Rs 1000 crore announced for second Kuttanad package.
