THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While calling attention in Assembly, BJP MLA Rajagopal said that reinstate the lost right of Malaya community in lightning the Makavilakku in Sabarimala.

As soon as Rajagopal stood up to present calling attention motion, Minister A K Balan raised the question. Now it is the government officials who go there and light Makaravilakku.

Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran said that from olden days Makavilakku was being lit by Malayaras of 18 hills including Sabarimala and they have been perfuming honey ‘abhishekam’ on Sabarimala deity. This is mentioned in the memorandum given by Malayara Sabhas.
