NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Piyush Goyal announced a new scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi for the assured income support to the farmers. The scheme would be implemented with retrospective effect from December 2018.


Under these schemes, vulnerable farmers having less than two hectares of land will be eligible for direct income support of Rs 6,000 per annum to the farmers. This income support will be transferred directly to beneficiary farmers in three equal instalments. 12 crore small and marginal farmers will benefit from this.


The finance minister announced a fund of Rs 75,000 crore for the PM Kisan scheme for 2019-20 and Rs 20,000 crore for the current, 2018-19 financial year.


The interim Budget also announced a pension scheme for unorganized sector workers. The Prime Minister Shram Yogi Mandhan assures a monthly pension of Rs 3,000 a month when a worker attains 60 years of age.


An unorganized sector worker joining the scheme at 29 years of age will only have to give Rs 100. Govt contribution will match the share. Rs. 55 as a premium for those who join at 18 years of age. 10 crore unorganized sector workers will benefit from this. Govt will allocate Rs 500 crore towards the scheme.


The government will set up a 'Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog' (National Cow Commission) to boost cow milk production and effective implementation of laws and welfare schemes for cows, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal announced.


He also increased the allocation for centrally sponsored scheme Rashtriya Gokul Mission to Rs 750 crore for the current financial year from the Budget Estimate of Rs 301.50 crore.


"The animal husbandry and fisheries sector also need considerable support. I have increased the allocation for the Rashtriya Gokul Mission to Rs 750 crore in the current year itself," Goyal said presenting the Interim Budget for 2019-20.
