THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Some of the demoted DySPs are criminals, says government sources. One among these is a murder case culprit.

S. Vijayan

He was charged as the first felon in the murder case of auto rickshaw driver Happy Rajesh, who was a prime offender for attempted suicide at Mathrubhumi writer V.B. Unnithan. Vijayan was a Circle Inspection in Kollam at the time. He was suspended for the offense.

Vipin Das

He was made the prime culprit for the murder of Sambath, a culprit, in police custody. Even after getting suspended he was taken back to duty and was given a temporary promotion.

T. Anil Kumar

He was charged as a culprit for poking a 14-year-old boy with a cigarette. The incident was in 2014 when Mr. Anil was Kottayam Crime Branch CI.

Manoj Kabeer

He was suspended for tampering with a case file. He was also penalized by Pathanamthitta Court for thrashing SFI activists.

E. Sunil Kumar

He was demoted for not performing his duty
