KOTTAYAM: 44-year old Anilkumar (Bakery Ani), resident of Pushpa Bhavan in Mariyappalli, Nattakam was stabbed to death during a clash. The police have arrested 26 year old Riyas into custody. Anilkumar had rented a shop to Riyas and they clashed over this.

The incident happened at the crossroad between Thirunakkara bus stand and post office. Riyas had rented the shop for a daily rent of Rs 500. Ani had been coming from Eerattupetta to collect the rent.

Ani and Riyas had consumed alcohol yesterday. A clash occured during this. Ani took the knife and tried to stab Riyas. Riyas grabbed the knife from him and stabbed Ani and went to the medical college hospital immediately. Though Ani was taken to the hospital immediately, his life could not be saved. Riyas was taken into custody by West station house officer Nirmal Bpse and SI M J Arun. The body was shifted to mortuary.
