KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on Thomas Chandy for wasting their time in lake encroachment case. The court gave permission for him to withdraw pleas in connection with it. The court directed him to pay the fine in ten days.

The Kottayam Vigilance Court had directed vigilance to conduct a probe after registering an FIR against Thomas Chandy and other officials against the alleged illegal filling of paddy fields for constructing a road for his resort in Alapuzha. The vigilance was moving forward with the probe. However, Chandy filed a plea seeking to cancel the vigilance case. Five including Chandy and other officials filed the plea. Senior counsels of the Supreme Court was brought in for Chandy. The case was under the consideration of the court for over six months.
