KALLARA: Nandu’s smile is a representation of his confidence that he got from fighting cancer away. Everything is a nightmare, or like stepping on a thorn for Nandu. Though cancer has taken his left leg, this twenty five year old boy is cool. That’s how he fough the cancer as well. His life is an inspiration for many other cancer patients.
Nandu Mahadevan. Son of Lekha and Soman Pillai, residents of Lekha Bhavan in Kochuvayal, Bharathannur in Pangode was affected by cancer when he was 23 years old. He felt a pain in his leg while playing when he was a BBA student three years ago. He soon found out that he was affected by cancer and had to surgically remove his leg next year. He gave courage to his parents, but the cancer was spread to his lungs.
He did not lose hope even if doctors said that his life could not be saved. His parents spent all their money for treatment. He is running a catering service now.
Nandu survived the post-chemotherapy pain with music, reading and social media. He shared every stages of his treatment through social media. His posts gave confidence to many other patients. His posts were shared by thousands of people. He was given a chance to sing a song in his album. The song became a hit and he started getting more opportunities. Daily 15-20 cancer patients call Nandu for inspiration and relief. He had participated in a reality show few days ago and he was given support by Priyamani, Kidilam Firoz, Jude Antony and RJ Arun.
Nandu’s parents and friends are helping him in his catering service. The catering service is helpful for five families including Nandu’s family.
