THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: When just a month is left for the end of financial year, the government has imposed undeclared restrictions on treasury. The government has restricted encashing bills to the tune of more than Rs 20 lakh.
The finance department has given the explanation that the restriction was on account of existing financial crisis in the State and this will be revoked once the distribution of salary was completed.
Instructions are also there for blocking contingency bills. Bills of local self-governing bodies and agricultural societies are not being accepted since January 25 but the local self-governing bodies’ complaint is that from January 12 are not being encashed.
Farmers are undergoing hassles due to the restrictions. There are also complaints that bills of local bodies and post-flood rebuilding of Kerala are also mounting.
