ERUMAPPETTY: P.K.R. Pillai, the producer who gifted Malayalam cinema with several hits like Chithram and Vandanam is struggling with his life. He has lost his memory and even can’t find a way for food and medicines.

Pillai, who was also a renowned entrepreneur, lost his business to friends, says his wife. His story became public when producer Saji Nanthyat shared the story in a Whatsapp group. Pillai is now 85 years of age.

Vepralam, released in 1984, was P.K.R. Pillai’s first movie. He then went on to produce 22 movies including Amrutham Gamaya, Chithram, Vandanam, and Kizhakkunarum Pakshi. The producer, who once paid crores in salary, don’t have a penny. Properties that once belonged to Pillai is now with many others.
