Rs 2.41 crore was robbed from a native of Kottayam, residing in Brazil. SBI had sent message whenever the money was taken from the ATM. Therefore, bank took the stand that the money cannot be reimbursed. Bank also said that case should be filed in Brazil as the crime was committed there. However, high court has ruled that the money should be reimbursed by the bank as they are responsible. The case went on for five years and such victims do not register such cases because of such delay. Many customers are not even aware of whom to contact. Banks should make the customers aware of the situation and they should be ready to take responsibility.
