cpm-and-congress-alliance

NEW DELHI: CPM national leadership has decided to join hands with the Congress at Bengal, thereby creating a headache for the Kerala state sector. The new decision is to take on both BJP and Trinamool Congress in one go.

Polit Bureau members Pinarayi Vijayan and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan strongly opposed the idea of an alliance with the Congress put forward by Bengal sector in the last party congress. It’s now interesting on how Kerala left leaders will react as Polit Bureau meeting will take place today.

The proposition to oppose Mamata and BJP at Bengal was taken in a discussion between Congress president Rahul Gandhi and CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury.

The new political situation in Bengal also led to this alliance. There are reports that there is a strong anti-incumbent emotion amidst the people.

Even though Rahul expressed his support for recent incidents, he never appeared in person. This is speculated to be because of the ongoing discussions with CPM.

However, the CPM-Congress alliance was not successful against Mamata in the last Assembly election.

Meanwhile, CPM Kerala sector will find it difficult explaining their alliance with Congress in Bengal.
