THRISSUR: “Who are they?”, asked P.K.R. Pillai, holding his photo with Mammootty and Mohanlal. With tearful eyes, Pillai’s wife Rema introduced the people in the photo to her husband, who has lost his memory.
Pillai is a producer of hit movies like Vandanam and Chithram. He produced 22 movies in total. Now, he has lost his memory and can’t even recognize a face. Struggling with life, Pillai is still hopeful that his deceased son will return.
“He is 85 years old now. His first wife passed away. He lost his memory three years back after losing his son Sidhu. Even though some of his movies were profitable, the rest ended up as losses. He sold his properties in Mumbai and Chennai. Business collapsed. Nobody helped him when he was left without any money. Isn’t he eligible of pension?”, Rema struggles to complete her words.
Rema had approached the producer’s association for help. She asked them to help Pillai by at least giving him the satellite rights of a hit movie. But everything went in vain.
Director Vinayan provided them with some economic aid. Producer Suresh Kumar and Producers-Distributors association representatives have promised to help them which gives Rema a ray of hope.
