PATHANAMTHITTA: Devotees chanting saranam will have more impact than slogans in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Supreme Court verdict on women entry will also have a strong impact. The legal battle and Sabarimala issue is relevant not only in national politics but also in Pathanamthitta. The issue will have a huge impact on 19 other constituencies as well.

Pathanamthitta constituency is just 10 years old. It was spread earlier across Mavelikkara, Adoor and Idukki assemblies. UDF also hopes that devotees will stand with them in the elections. Anto Antony is the sitting MP of Pathanamthitta. However, BJP's vote was increased by more than 82,000 votes. There was a leak of UDF votes as well. M T Ramesh was the candidate of BJP.

Everyone believe that the Sabarimala issue will pose a threat for LDF. Renaissance may not be easily converted to votes. Though, no one has declared any candidates, campaign has already started. LDF has placed a cut-out in which it was written, “Have you seen Anto Antony?” Anto Antony is likely to be the UDF candidate.
