ALAPPUZHA: The farmers of Kuttanad are happy that the paddy fields which were affected by the floods have produced record-breaking harvest during this season. Farmers are rushing to make maximum profit. The alluvium soil that got sedimented during floods became a boon for the paddy fields.
The floods had also washed away the salt from the soil.
Farmers have begun harvesting in upper Kuttanad. The machines will reach Kuttanad after that. 30 quintel rice was obtained from Thekkumpuram field. The maximum quanitity obtained earlier was 15 quintel. This difference can be seen everywhere.
