NEW DELHI: The Congress has decided not to field sitting MLAs in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This was clarified by leader of opposition Ramesh Chennithala in the PCC presidents’ meet called by Rahul Gandhi. Meantime, Rahul Gandhi said that the sitting MPs will be given a preference.

An all-party meet will be held on February 18th. The short list should be given to the high command before February 25th. Final list is likely to be published this month. Chennithala has also stated that only one candidate will contest from one family. Ramesh Chennithala and working President Kodikkunnil Suresh participated in the meeting as KPCC President Mullappally Ramachandran is on Janamahayatra. Rahul Gandhi said that winning probability should be given preference. Chennithala said that Rahul is satisfied with party’s preparations in Kerala. Rahul also said to consider every party workers’ feelings.

Ramesh clarified this while many sitting MLAs have started their move to go forward with a campaign. The final decision will be taken by Rahul Gandhi. The meeting was held at the number 15 residence on Rakagunch road in Delhi Gurudwara which is known as ‘war room’.
