MUNNAR: Devikulam sub collector Renu Raj said that the details regarding illegal construction of women’s industrial centre at old Munnar near Muthirappuzhayar using panchayat fund will be informed to the High Court immediately. The construction works are ongoing after violating the court order. Sub collector said that an affidavit will be submitted in the High Court on Monday. She also clarified that MLA’s attempt to block the revenue department’s actions will be also informed to the court.

Meantime, revenue minister E Chandrasekharam has come forward supporting Devikulam sub collector. He said that actions taken by the collector are legal.

“She has complete support from the revenue department. I am not saying anything about the lapses made by MLA. An investigation should be carried out immediately”, said the minister.

Revenue department had found out that a building was constructed after encroaching Muthirappuzhayar. A group led by Rajendran had also insulted the revenue officers who came to block the illegal construction. The collector decided to submit an affidavit following this.
