PATHANAMTHITTA: Sabarimala shrine will open on Tuesday for monthly poojas. Sangh Parivar activists will block women, if any, from entering the temple. The style of protests will be decided soon, said an elder leader of the organization. BJP leaders have also said that the protest will continue.
There is information that protestors will gather and protest with ‘Saranam Ayyappa’ chants. Pathanamthitta DySP has requested the police Chief to declare prohibitory in the premises till February 17, when the shrine closes.
The shrine is opening at a time when the court has reserved the verdict of review petitions. The police assume that more women will come to visit the shrine.
The police have said that they will provide protection to women who want to visit the shrine.
