THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition staged an uproar after the Speaker denied permission for adjournment motion moved by the opposition. The opposition sought an adjournment motion to discuss the CBI charge sheet against CPM Kannur district secretary P. Jayarajan and MLA T. V. Rajesh in connection with the murder of Ariyil Shukkoor.
P. Jayarajan and T. V. Rajesh are included in the 32nd and 33rd spot in the list of accused prepared by the CBI. The opposition demanded that the matter should be discussed by stopping the assembly proceedings, since one of the culprits is a member of legislative assembly and other a veteran political leader.
However, Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan said that an urgent meeting is not required in the matter as the incident took place years ago and it has no connection with the administration. The Speaker also clarified that the discussion on the issue need not be considered as per assembly rules.
Following this, the opposition walked out of the assembly.
