MANANTHAVADY: Hints say that adivasis who had decided to stage protests in front of the house of actress Manju Warrier for failing to keep her promise of getting houses constructed for them, has been called off after holding discussions. She had promised to construct houses for 57 families of Parakuni Colony in Kalpetta at an amount of Rs 1.85 crore under the Manju Warrier Foundation. After she came forward with the promise, the adivasis said they were not getting any other help from the government. The adivasis had decided to stage protests in front of her house today. There was a misunderstanding between them and it was cleared in the presence of Minister A K Balan. Unofficial reports say they withdrew from it after they were convinced that there are no legal hurdles in getting benefits from the government.
