THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even before the announcement of Lok Sabha election, political circles are agog with discussions on ‘who should contest from where’.
Now it is heard that Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan will contest the election from Thiruvananthapuram constituency. Even RSS has given green signal to this idea since it sincerely wishes to grab a seat in Kerala.
Kummanam has also openly said that he was ready to step down as governor and resume party activities if the party asks him to do so. He has told this to a Malayalam online media.
“The post I hold now is not something that can be relinquished one fine morning. The BJP Central leadership should take a decision on it and the Union Ministry should make recommendation in this regard to the President. Not only that, they will have to find a replacement for me. This is not that easy. I have never wished to be a governor. I just carried out the responsibility entrusted with me by the party. I’m a person who have dedicated myself to the party.
My personal interest is of no relevance here. I’m ready to come back and get involved in party activities as before but the party will have to decide on it.
Earlier, I could go anywhere but now I can’t… because of security reasons,” he explained.
