ALAPPUZHA: Poison was spotted under a rice sack in Alappuzha warehouse on Wednesday. Two load workers were admitted in the hospital after they experienced giddiness and vomiting tendency. Workers said they developed health discomfort after they inhaled poison.
Following the incident, the labourers stopped working. Early during the day, the workers started supplying rice packets to SupplyCo and schools. It was one worker who first fell sick and later the other worker also felt giddy and started vomiting. After the incident, the workers downed the shutter of the warehouse.
Meanwhile, warehouse authorities confirmed that Aluminium phosphate was used under sacks to keep away rodents. But the workers alleged that the chemical was not removed even after 14 days when its expiry date ended seven days ago.
