THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP General Secretary K. Surendran's name is the most popular amongst the party candidates. Out of the nine constituencies where the party is hopeful, Surendran's name is tipped in five. The party’s assumptions are clear, to secure votes with Sabarimala issue and none was more popular in the party regarding that issue than Surendran who was even jailed.
Many inside the party think that Surendran can overcome Shashi Tharoor if he can add believer votes to the last election’s numbers. Meanwhile, his name is heard is tipped in Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Kozhikode, and Kasaragod along with the state capital.
Actor and current MP Suresh Gopi’s name has been raised at Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. But, as BDJS have asked for the Kollam seat, the chance for this is very low. BDJS leader T.V. Babu’s name is popular in Mavelikkara and Alathur.
P.K. Krishnadas is being considered at Attingal along with Sobha Surendran. Krishnadas’ name is also popular in Kasaragod. However, the party has not lapped up the words of P.P. Mukundan, who expressed his interest to contest from Thiruvananthapuram.
