KOLLAM: Protests and debates followed in the state council meeting which was called to recognize Mullakkara Ratnakaran as the temporary district secretary of CPI.
There was a sense of disorder in the meeting which was held at M.N. Memorial in the presence of State Assistant Secretaries K. Prakash Babu and Sathyan Mokeri. After debates over Mullakkara’s appointment, it was formally accepted. Council accepted the Executive decision without many discussions.
A section agreed to the decision to remove N. Anirudhan from the post of district Secretary while majority disagreed on it. Some also blamed the state leadership for the problems in the party system which was working smoothly before. The state leadership had asked for a resignation letter from Anirudhan in the last district council, which was given.
Members unanimously agreed to support Mullakkara Ratnakaran if he can work with a neutral stand. Ratnakaran later joked to remove him from the temporary post as soon as possible which spread laughs in the meeting.
