THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The crime branch will probe the financial fraud case registered against Nilambur MLA P V Anwar. DGP Lokanath Behera has ordered crime branch ADGP to probe the case. The court ordered the crime branch to probe the case registered against him for allegedly cheating an NRI businessman of Rs 50 lakh by promising a share in the crusher business.
The case at the Manjeri police station is that he cheated a native of Malappuram and a pravasi of Rs 50 lakh. The petitioner moved the high court pointing that a probe is not being conducted and a chargesheet has not been filed so far and this is to protect the MLA. Following this, the court ordered to hand over the case to the crime branch.
The probe will be conducted by the Malappuram financial criminal investigation department. Crime branch ADGP will monitor the probe. A report will be submitted after the investigation.
