KALPPATTA: Tens of thousands flocked to bid adieu to V.V. Vasanthakumar, CRPF jawan who was martyred in Pulwama attack. His body was kept for public showing at Lakkidi School and his family house at Thrikaipetta. Cremation was held at his ancestral home with army honors. Vasanthakumar came for a few days leave last month and left for his duty on January 8 with a lasting smile on his face. He turned into a burning memory for the people of Wayanad, his family was down with the irreparable loss.

Vasanthakumar’s mortal remains reached Karippoor Airport by 2 p.m. and taken to Wayanad by 2.50 p.m. His body was kept for public showing at Lakkidi School for 35 minutes. The body reached Vasanthakumar’s family house at Thrikaipetta by 7.20 p.m. Minister A.K. Saseendran, Kadannapally Ramachandran and other political leaders were present. Some people couldn’t see the remains of the dear son of Wayanad. Some cried. It was as if they had lost someone in their family.
