KASARGOD: The FIR of the police mentioned that the hacking of two youth congress activists to death at Periya in Kalyot was a political murder. Kripesh (24) and Sharath Lal (19) of Kalyot were hacked to death at 8.30 pm last night. The investigating team obtained hints that a three-member team from outside who obtained special training committed the crime. They murdered the two using swords and axe. The team used the method carried by a professional team. No information has been obtained about the team who escaped soon after the murder.
Crime detachment DySP M Pradeep Kumar reached the spot and started an investigation on the murders. District police chief Dr A Sreenivas said a special investigating team has been formed under the leadership of DySP.
Two mobile phones and a piece of the sword suspected to be that of the accused used in hacking the accused have been recovered from the spot. The team first hacked Sharath and when Kripesh tried to flee from there, they surrounded him and hacked him. Sharath’s close relative Govindan alleged that two families, neighbours of the former, are directly involved in the murder. The police did not take adequate steps following the death threat on him. Kannur range IG Balram Kumar Upadhaya visited the accident spot. Finger print experts and dog squad reached the spot and completed examination. The inquest of the bodies brought to Pariyaram Medical College were done by a team led by Adoor circle inspector A M Mathew and Kumbala circle inspector K Premsadan.
Deadly injuries were seen in the bodies. It has been assessed that the murder was a planned one. They chose an isolated place to commit the crime. Though locals identified Sharath first, Kripesh was found bleeding profusely 150 meters away in a bush.
It was easy for the murderers to escape as there were no witnesses for the crime.
