KASARGOD: In extreme poverty, Krishnan somehow finds money and goes to vote for the 'red'. He needs more than Rs 250 for every trip. Krishnan is father of Kripesh, who was hacked to death at Periya on Sunday. Political and personal rivalry triggered the twin murders in Kasargod.
Anyone seeing the house of Krishnan will know how valuable is Rs 50 for the his family. The family living in a thatched house is in extreme poverty and is staying in a one-room house.
So far, seven including CPM local committee member have been taken into custody. This was the ‘present’ given by the party to a man for being a a staunch loyalist of the CPM.
Kripesh was the only son of Krishnan. Periya and Kalyot are the strong centres of the CPM. Kripesh was isolated in his family for joining the Congress party. Krishnan had advised his son not to be afraid in saying that he is a sympathiser of a party. ‘Your party is yours and my party is mine’. But, don’t get into trouble and don’t create any problems,’ was the advice of Krishnan.
Krishnan's words: "The SFI had once beaten him in an issue at the polytechnic. That time I asked him to continue studies only if he was sure of not getting into trouble again. Out of fear, he discontinued studies. A club nearby was gutted in fire recently. When he got out of the house then, I warned him against going out and he stayed back. When a hartal was observed on the issue, he had joined in downing shutters of shops. At that time a CPM sympathiser identified as Valsan had threatened him, saying "we'll see you later".
