THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government will protect the family of CRPF soldier V V Vasanth Kumar killed in Pulwama attack in Kashmir. The government announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the family of the slain soldier. Of the ₹25 lakhs, the dtate would give Rs 15 lakh to Vasanta Kumar's wife, and the rest would go to his mother.

The cabinet meet convened today decided to make permanent the job of Sheena, wife of Kumar, a temporary employee of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences Institute.

The government will bear the educational expenses of his children. A decision has been taken to construct a house for them. Minister A K Balan had yesterday asserted that the government will bear the educational expenses of his two children-- Anamika and Amardeep.
