KASARGOD: Police suspect a big conspiracy behind Kasargod twin murder as more details on the incident are emerging. This follows police taking CPM local committee member Peethambaran into custody.

Peethambaran’s role became clear after secret questioning of certain CPM loyalists, who had been taken into custody. Based on the inputs from them, the CPM leader, who had gone into hiding, was taken into custody by an investigation team led by DySP Pradeep Kumar on Monday night. Police expect to get some lead by questioning this person.

The police presumption is that Peethambaran hatched a conspiracy to finish the youths due to some earlier grudge he had against them and chose a quotation to commit the crime.

If the local committee member gets arrested, it will put the CPM leadership on the defensive. The party leaders said that “Peethambaran will be excluded from the party if he has any role in the murder.”

Meanwhile, Congress leaders raise the question whether a local committee member alone can arrange a big quotation team. They add that police will have to find out who was behind appointing a Kannur team for the murders.
