The gesture of Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala to cancel the post marriage reception of his son and donate the money set apart for the function to Kasargod twin murder victim Kripesh’s sister towards her marriage expense is praise-worthy.
This is act is worthy of being emulated by not only political leaders but also by those sitting on top positions in society.
Congress workers Kripesh and Sharathlal were brutally killed on the night of Chennithala’s son Rohit’s wedding.
Chennithala had mentioned that the decision was according to the wishes of Rohit and the bride. It is to be noted that the newly married couple made this decisive decision after they came to know about the poor living condition of Kripesh, who with his family lived in a single-room thatched house.
Though this may be a let-down for those who were awaiting the high-profile reception ceremony, this is high noble act.
Kripesh has two sisters. The Congress is now getting ready to rush more aid to Kripesh’s family. The first obligation is to build a new house. Youth Congress has declared that they will look after the expense for the education of the sisters. The party has also decided to give financial help to the family of Sharathlal, who was also killed along with Kripesh. Then only, humaneness will reach its respectable state.
Not only respective political parties, but the whole society should come forward to help victims of such political crimes.
The general assumption is that political leaders should be role models in society. In that case, the above gesture is sure to have a deep influence on society.
Luxurious wedding is a sad reality in society now. A small portion of the money splurged in the name of wedding is just enough to ‘enrich’ poor girls, who don’t have money even to buy nuptial knot.
Now, lavishing money in the name of wedding has become a tradition. However, a few immensely rich people come forward to marry off girls from poor families but no political leader is heard to do so.
Notably, the Congress got convinced about the poor living condition of Kripesh only after he fell to the sword of his attackers at the age of 21.
All parties will have such kind of dedicated workers and it is the duty of these parties to help such needy workers.
Often held reach only after a disaster, like in the case of Kripesh.
There are thousands of poor people who watch marriage extravaganzas helplessly and despair about their helplessness. Many families in the lowest strata of society will be grateful if a part of the money used for luxurious weddings reach their hands.
Society will certainly bow their head before such great minds.
