KASARAGOD: Statement of the arrested culprits in Periya double murder has revealed the involvement CPM in the crime. Four people including A. Peethambaran came to party office after the crime, revealed the accused to police. The other three stayed at party activists’ houses.

The following morning, they travelled to a safe house, avoiding National Highway routes. The culprits also revealed that the party’s regional leaders helped the murderers get to safety. The safe house was set up at a place with party influence.

Based on the culprits’ statement, the investigation team plans to take more people into custody for interrogation. Saji George, the recent arrest related to the incident, is a CPM sympathizer. The team of murderers used Saji’s vehicle to travel to the murder spot. Saji has said in his statement that he worked on the directions of Peethambaran.

The police have taken a car, jeep and van into custody after the arrest of Saji George. On forensic tests, blood stains and the impact of a crash with a bike has been found.

Meanwhile, the weapon used for murder was not found amongst the weapons shown by Peethambaran to police.
