KASARGOD: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will not visit the houses of youth congress activists killed in Periya. The visit was cancelled following the disapproval of the congress district faction, informed the CPM. The chief minister will go to Kanhangad from Kasargod.

The chief minister had expressed his interest in visiting their houses. Following that, the CPM district leadership contacted congress leaders. Kasargod DCC had informed the CPM that they don’t know how the activists will respond. The chief minister has the freedom to visit and at the same time the activists too have the right to protest. Following that, the chief minister decided to cancel the visit. Kripesh’s father Krishnan said the chief minister should visit their homes. I don’t think protests will be staged. I will demand a CBI probe to the chief minister, he said.

Pinarayi had decided to visit their houses after laying the foundation stone for the office of the party district committee in Vidya Nagar. Meantime, the security has been intensified at all functions attended by the chief minister. The party is facing a severe setback following the murder. The UDF will boycott all programmes of the chief minister in protest against the murder. When KPCC chief Mullappally Ramachandran visited the victims’ houses, he had opined that the chief minister should visit their homes.
