KOZHIKODE: CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran has come out to justify the chief minister’s decision not to visit the houses of Congress workers Sharatlal and Kripesh, who were killed in Periya in political violence recently.
“The chief minister had expressed his wish to visit the houses of the late Youth Congress workers but later he changed the plan for security reasons. Not only that, it is not a right practice to visit the houses of deceased persons with police or soldiers,” Kanam said at a press conference in Kozhikode on Friday.
Meanwhile, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala alleged that the chief minister backed off from visiting the houses due to guilty consciousness. The government’s stand had been to protect accused in cases.
