kasargod-murder

KASARGOD: In the Kasargod twin murder case, three more persons are included in the list of the accused prepared by the Special Investigation Team. With this, the total number of accused became ten, which included seven arrested earlier.

The three persons are said to be prominent CPM members in Kalyot region. They are said to be the conspirators with no direct involvement in the murder of two Youth Congress Workers.

Though the chief minister had condemned the killing in Kasargod, there have been allegations that attempts are on to confine the investigation to the local level so that top level leaders, if any, remain safe.

Though Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had plans to visit the houses of victims Kripesh and Sharatlal, he had to drop that following intelligent reports and suggestion from regional Congress leaders that there could be security issues.

Crime Branch Detachment DySP M Pradeep Kumar, who first took up the case, had prepared, within two days, a list of ten persons which included persons who allegedly had direct involvement in the murder. This was based on accused Peethambaran’s statement; he was the person arrested first.

There are reports that three persons to be arrested are CPM leaders having high political influence and this may delay their arrests.

Meanwhile, the police have recovered the main sword used for the murder and two other swords. They also got the remnants of an accused person’s shirt, which the others had tried to burn.
