THIRUVANANTAHPURAM: Jayasurya, Soubin Saheer and Nimisha Sajayan have been adjudged best actors at the 49th state film awards announced here Wednesday.

Minister A K Balan announcing the award said Jayasurya and Soubin will share the award for the best actor. Jayasurya was chosen for the award for his roles in Njan Marykutty and Captain and Soubin for Sudani from Nigeria.

Nimisha was chosen the best actress for her role in Chola and Oru Kuprasidha Payyan.

Joju George and Savithri Sreedharan have bagged the award for the best supporting actors. Joju was given the award for his brilliant performance in films like Joseph and Chola and Savithri for her role in Sudani from Nigeria.

Kanthan the lover of Colour has been adjudged the best film and the second best film is Oru Njayarazhcha. Shyama Prasad has been declared best director.

The award for the best story goes to Joy Mathew for Uncle. Best cinematographer is K U Mohanan for Carbon. Muhasin Parari and Zacharia are the best script writers (Sudani from Nigeria).

Vijay Yesudas and Shreyal Ghoshal have been adjudged best singers.
