THODUPUZHA: A notice has been issued to Joyce George MP in the Kottakambur land controversy. The notice was issued to the MP by Devikulam sub collector Dr Renu Raj IAS.
The notice has asked to produce the documents of the land by March 7. Meantime, George will not directly appear following the favourable order from the Kerala High Court. The documents will be produced through his advocate.
Though the MP was asked to appear on January 10, he had got a stay for a month from the high court. The notice was issued again in as the tenure of the stay allowed has ended.
A controversy sparked earlier on the land in possession of the MP at Kottakambur in Idukki. Former Devikulam sub collector V R Prem Kumar had cancelled the land’s title deeds claiming that the documents of the land are not accurate. The MP had lodged a complaint against this and the district collector had frozen the action of the sub collector. Following that, the MP was asked to appear with all the valid documents of the land in July 2018. Though he approached land revenue commissioner against this, he did not get a favourable stand. George moved the high court and got a stay from the high court after the sub collector issued a notice on January 10.
