THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Communist Party of India (CPI) will enter candidate discussions on Friday. District executive councils will form meetings and prepare possibility panels of candidates at four constituencies. CPI candidates will be contesting at Thiruvananthapuram, Mavelikkara, Thrissur and Wayanad constituencies. District councils at Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Thrissur, Wayanad, Kozhikode and Malappuram will prepare and submit possibility panels to state leadership.
These panels will be further discussed by the state executive and council on March 3 and 4. A filtered version of this panel will be submitted to the central leadership. National executive and council meetings on March 5 and 6 will take the final decision.
Thiruvananthapuram
The name of CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran is the most popular amongst the CPI candidate names in Thiruvananthapuram. Rajya Sabha MP Benoy Viswam, C. Divakaran MLA, District Secretary G.R. Anil are the other possible names.
Mavelikkara
Adoor MLA Chittayam Gopakumar, Former MP Chengara Surendran, RS Anil, and Former Kollam District Panchayat President Devaki are the other names in the discussion.
Thrissur
Sitting MP C.N. Jayadevan, AITUC State General Secretary K.P. Rajendran, Minister V.S. Sunilkumar, Former MLA Rajaji Mathew Thomas are the names under consideration.
Wayanad
Former Malappuram District Secretary P.P. Suneer, Sathyan Mokeri and his wife P. Vasantham are amongst the rumored names.
