It is unfortunate to see people fighting among one another out of jealously and ego at a time when the nation should stand united, setting aside narrow political interests.
Almost all eyes are on the upcoming Lok Sabha election, and hence the tendency to badmouth or blame others will increase.
The Opposition and ruling parties are washing their dirty linen when the whole country waits with bated breath in the aftermath of Pak attack on India to avenge the latter’s bombing of Pak terror pockets.
When the Pulwama attack, the source of the present Indo-Pak tension, took place, some tried to portray it as the government’s flaw.
India had given an apt reply to Pakistan’s rowdyism.
In the strike back, MIG fighter plane of India crashed and its pilot wing Commander Abhinandan was held hostage. But they had to hand him over to India very soon under its unwavering demand and pressure from international community.
It is a well-known fact that terrorists and suicide bombers trained in Pak sneak into different parts of the country, killing soldiers, civilians and destroying properties. Pulwama suicide attack that killed more than 40 CRPF jawans and the one that was orchestrated by Jaish e Mohammed was condemned by countries world over. There is no doubt that any country with some self-respect will strike back. India’s air strike in retaliation to the gruesome Pulwama attack was not inopportune or inappropriate.
False note began to be heard here and there when people including the commoners started giving full support to the government and the Indian forces.
The attempt of the Opposition to belittle the government steps in connection with highly sensitive national security matters and hurl untimely criticism will not help the country.
In all parties there will be leaders who don’t know what to say and when to say that. But, what party leadership should do is to prevent such people from making blabberings that will help the enemy.
Not only in the Opposition but in the BJP that heads the government also, such nonsensical people are there. A classic example is former Karnataka chief minister Yedyurappa, who went to the extent of saying that Balakot airstrikes will win more seats for BJP in Karnataka. Such kind of ruling party leaders are also there in UP and MP.
The Congress leader Dig Vijay Singh’s demand was that the Centre should provide evidence for the Balakot strike
Former Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee also echoed the same demand.
There are also leaders in Kerala who remarked that India’s airstrike was a ploy of the Centre to sabotage the election result. Such people, harbouring a deep grudge against BJP and Modi, underplay the nationalism by such comments.
Incidentally and unwarrantedly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also started giving curt replies and claims to counter criticism, jazzing up the whole scene.
All political parties should keep in mind that eradication of terrorism is not only the responsibility of the government.
Such street talks and jibes will only help the enemy.
The above leaders should not go without noticing the shrewdness shown by Pak Prime Minister Imran Khan to use comments made by them in relation to Abhinandan, against India.
It goes without saying that when the nation remains divided, the job is made easy for the enemy. Political parties taking stands with eye only on politics is suicidal. Leaders should understand this. Don’t take the country to a state when East India Company set foot on Indian soil.
