THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP leadership hopes to field Mizoram governor from Thiruvananthapuram constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Many party workers demand Kummanam’s return to Kerala. Party leaders also share the hints that Kummanam is likely to return to Kerala.

RSS leadership stands firm on the decision to bring back Kummanam to the state. This was informed to BJP as well. If Kummanam does not come back to the state, they plan to field actor Suresh Gopi in Thiruvananthapiram. K Surendran’s name was also brought up during the talks.

BJP leadership estimates that Kummanam has very high probability for winning in Thiruvananthapuram. However, as he is the governor of Mizoram, it is difficult for him to return to Kerala. However, many governors including Karnataka governor has expressed his interests to come back to state politics. BJP has not yet considered this option.

Kummanam Rajasekharan is a highly popular candidate. He had contested from Vattiyoorkkavu constituency during the previous assembly elections. He was beaten by Congress leader K Muraleedharan. Meantime, Congress has decided to field Shashi Tharoor in Thiruvananthapuram. LDF will also field a strong candidate.
