v-s-achuthanandan

KOCHI: The state government requested the Kerala High Court to reject former chief minister V S Achuthanandan’s plea seeking a reinvestigation in the ice cream parlour sabotage case. The government’s report mentioned that a detailed probe was conducted in the case years back and further investigation is not needed. Meantime, observers evaluate that not taking a stand against Muslim League general secretary P K Kunhalikutty is a political decision in the wake of the Lok Sabha polls.

VS alleged that the state should have filed a revision petition against the order of the lower court settling the case. The leader attacked the government for not doing so. He had argued in the court that the government should have filed a revision plea and instead they joined hands with the opponents. The leader approached the court after the lower court accepted the police report to end the probe based on revelations.

The police registered the case based on the revelation made by K A Rauf stating the accused had entered into a conspiracy, influenced the victims by offering money, forged documents and destroyed evidence to win the ice cream parlour case.
