KOTTIYAM: Lovers set ablaze and died for not being able to live together. Vineeth (26), son of Vijayan of Eravipuram and his relative’s wife Reshma (32) are the two who took the extreme step. The incident happened last night at 9.30 pm on the grassy land behind a crematorium at Aakkolil.
Reshma, wife of Padma Kumar, son of Vineeth’s aunt. He was a bachelor eloped with his aunt’s son Padma Kumar’s wife Reshma. The two are masons. The Eravipuram police said the two were in a relationship and Padma Kumar came to know about it. The couple has three children in the age group of six, five and two. Padma Kumar along with his two children had gone to a temple festival nearby. Padma Kumar received a call from Reshma at 9 pm but what she said was not clear.
On reaching home, he saw his youngest daughter in the cradle. At this time he saw fire emanating from a land which is 100 metres away from his house and spotted two running in the shape of a fire sphere. They might have set fire after pouring petrol. The two were immediately taken to Kollam district hospital. The doctors confirmed the death of Vineeth and though Reshma who suffered 80% burns was brought to the medical college hospital in the capital city, she died early this morning at 3 am.
