innocent

THRISSUR: The Chalakudy parliamentary committee has expressed concern on the decision of the state leadership to field sitting MP Innocent again in Chalakudy constituency for the Lok Sabha polls. The committee has informed the state leadership to take over the responsibility if he is fielded again in the constituency. They recommended to consider the names of P Rajeev and Saju Paul in the constituency.

A decision was taken in the CPM yesterday that all sitting MPs except P Karunakaran from Kasargod, to contest polls. The state secretariat meet yesterday asserted to leave the decision to Innocent. The final candidates will be announced by the state committee with the approval of district committees.

As per agreement, P K Sreemathy (Kannur), P K Biju (Alathur), M B Rajesh (Palakkad), Joyce George (Idukki) and A Sampath (Attingal) will contest again. Instead of P Karunakaran in Kasargod, former district secretary and former Thrikkaripur MLA K P Satheesh Chandran will be the candidate.
