KOCHI: India’s budget carrier Indigo will discontinue its operations on the Muscat-Kochi sector by month end.
Speaking to Muscat Daily , an official from Indigo’s call centre in India said, “Our last flight from Kochi [southern Indian city] to Muscat is on March 29 and the last from Muscat to Kochi on March 30.”
S K, a resident of Muscat said, “I had booked three tickets from Kochi to Muscat for April 3 and return on April 14.”
The resident got a call from the airline’s call centre in New Delhi saying that the operations on this route are being suspended. “I was told by the executive to cancel the tickets and get a full refund or they would book us on some other flight.”
The airline’s flights to the southern Indian city of Calicut from Muscat too were discontinued last year. The carrier operated its last flight from Muscat to the western Indian city of Ahmedabad on February 28. Indigo had started flying to Ahmedabad on November 1, 2018 with four weekly flights.
Indigo now only operates flights to the western Indian city of Mumbai from Muscat.
Also, India’s struggling private airline Jet Airways discontinued its service on the Muscat-Delhi route from last December.
