Political observer and advocate Jayashankar criticised the government in connection with the killing of Maoist C P Jaleel at Vythiri in Wayanad. This is the third Maoist killed in a gunfight after this LDF government came to power. Many injuries of gun shots were found in the body of Jaleel. None of the cops sustained any injuries, he said.

Killing Maoists is a happy thing for the Congress and the BJP. There will not be any harm from the side of Justice Antony Dominic heading the Human Rights Commission. Cultural leaders and human rights activists are leading their own way. They will not utter a word till the administration changes. Thunderbolt activists will be honoured with the police medal for their excellent service, he said in a Facebook post.

Jaleel was killed in a gunfight between Maoists and police when they reached the resort demanding cash. The police said they fired shots to save them from the Maoists. Meanwhile, Jaleel's brother C P Rasheed said the encounter was fake. According to the inquest report, Jaleel received three bullet injuries.
