THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The final decision on the Congress candidate list will be taken in the presence of High Command. In a discussion between top leaders on Saturday, possibility panels were submitted except for the sitting seats. Mullappaly Ramachandran, Ramesh Chennithala and Oommen Chandy, who were part of the meeting will leave for Delhi on Monday for the screening committee meeting.

After the screening committee meeting, the list will be handed over to the election panel. After discussing with senior leaders A.K. Antony, the final list will be prepared. By Wednesday, the candidates might be announced.

As there is a stringent direction to field candidates with winning possibility, the pressure is on popular leaders like Oommen Chandy, V.M. Sudheeran and K.C. Venugopal to contest. The LDF list looks to be a challenging one. So candidates will play a key role in the outcome of election results.

If Mullappally Ramachandran is not ready to take on P. Jayarajan at Vadakara, K.M. Abhijith or T. Sidhique might take up the task. There is pressure on Oommen Chandy and K.C. Venugopal to contest. Chandy, if contesting, might choose Idukki or Kottayam seat. Arif’s candidacy at Alappuzha has also mounted pressure on K.C. Venugopal to contest.
