THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Though the Lok Sabha election is yet to be announced, the Left has declared their ‘big’ candidates on all seats, eying only victory ad setting the balls rolling for election campaign ahead of others. Meanwhile the UDF and NDA are ‘scheming’ to feild the best candidates who would be competent enough to defeat their opponents. .
Though Sabarimala issue and post-flood scenario are likely to influence the Lok Sabha election, by announcing the candidates’ list, the LDF implicitly states that victory is their only aim.
The LDF would be fielding six out of seven sitting MPs again. Though there is allegation that women are not given sufficient representation by the LDF, which was behind Women’s wall, the party is not ready go for an experimentation.
The LDF which will hold the Constituency Convention from Sunday will make live booth-level campaigns by March 20.
For Congress, Kerala is a state that gives lots of hope. They will be bringing out charismatic and prominent leaders to oppose the Left bigwigs.
Oommen Chandy, VM Sudheeran, K C Venugopal, Mullapally, T Siddique, Adoor Prakash, K Sudhakaran, TN Prathapan, Dean Kuriakose and Joseph Vzhakkal are under consideration; a clear picture will emerge only within two to three days.
Meanwhile, BJP and the NDA are readying for an overt political battle against the Left by stirring devotees’ sentiments against the backdrop of Sabarimala Women’s entry. Their highest expectation is Thiruvananthapuram seat for which Kummanam has been brought in by the RSS after lots of efforts at national level. Leaders under consideration for the Lok Sabha contest are State president P S Sreedharan Pilllai, P K Krishna Das, Shobha Surendran, A N Radhakrishnan, C V Anadbose, K S Radhakrishnan, Krishnakumar and Sudheer Kumar.
