NEW DELHI: Congress leaders are struggling to take decision on the candidates for upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Therefore, screening committee meeting will not be able to a final decision today.
Congress high command had directed that no sitting MLAs need not contest in the upcoming elections. However, the decision will be reconsidered as many members said that Oommen Chandy should contest in the elections and since LDF has also decided to field six sitting MLAs. CPM and CPI have fielded four and two sitting MLAs respectively. However, Congress leadership estimates that fielding sitting MLAs won’t be a good decision for the party.
Oommen Chandy is hesitant to contest in Idukki. V M Sudheeran has not also expressed interest to contest in the election. KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran is also not interested to contest in Vadakara. Congress will publish the list on or before 20th. Rahul Gandhi will visit Kerala next week.
