THALASSERY: A traffic policeman was affected by sunstroke while he was duty on Monday. It is Thalassery Traffic Traffic Station policeman and Mattannur Kodolippuram native Sanishi (31) who has been affected by the blistering sun. Three days ago he experienced discoloration on both his hands and itching. There was also pain on those parts.
The reason for the health issue was found out to be sunstroke after a check-up was done in a government hospital according to the instruction of superior officers. After that, Saneesh was given day’s leave for taking rest.
He was also given some ointment to apply on the affected part.
Though the health department has issued guidelines that people should not work under the sun between 11 am and 3 pm, traffic constables are unable to follow this, due to the nature of their work.
